Frequently Asked Questions
If you have further questions, inquire at mshachat@nordicscholars.org
What does NSLI cover?
Our Scholarship program is fully funded. This means that selected scholars will receive: round trip flights, meal stipends, transportation, and accomidations while on site.
I live abroad/in the Nordics already; can I apply?
Nordic Scholars is a leadership program and scholarship intended for U.S Residents/Students; specifically those located in our partner locations of Seattle, WA and Minneapolis, MN. We do not accept applications from students or residents outside of these limitations.
Where can I find a detailed outline of NSLI's program?
A core element of NSLI's pedagogical approach is transformative immersion. The program is intentionally designed to stretch participants beyond familiar frameworks, and part of that learning comes from entering the experience without a fully scripted roadmap in advance.
For that reason, we do not circulate detailed day-by-day agendas publicly. We have found that preserving a degree of productive disorientation strengthens reflection, adaptability, and leadership judgment. You can read more about our approach here and what the program offers here and here
I study in Minnesota/
Washington but live somewhere else: can I still apply?
If you:
-have a passport/visa that is valid for U.S–Schengen Area travel, and
-are able to fly out of/return to our partnering cities (Minneapolis/Seattle),
you are most welcome to apply to NSLI. If you are still unsure about your unique situation, you may explain further in your application here
I live/study in the U.S but don't know if I need a Visa to travel to the Schengen Area; can I still apply?
A core aspect of NSLI is our transformative immersion process; this means our program takes place entirely in Sweden. If applicants are unsure of their ability to legally travel to and from Sweden/Schengen area, we advise they read the guidelines here
